# Renew Subscription When API Plan is Updated
This article will share about what are the impacts to developers when providers update an API Plan.
TIP
Updates on API plan will only affect you if you have an active subscription to the API plan.
Providers can update the details of an API Plan from time to time, please refer to API Subscription Plan Configuration for details.
In the event of any updates to an API Plan, the following actions will occur:
Existing subscriptions will remain active, ensuring that the original plan remains valid until:
Either the API Provider or the API User (you) chooses to stop renewal, discontinuing the subscription at the end of the current invoice period.
The API Provider terminates the subscription.
As a subscriber, you can choose either:
If you wish to renew your subscription plan, please navigate to the API pricing page on the API Portal and click on the Plan Updated - Confirm Renewal? button.
Alternatively, if you prefer to continue with your original subscription plan without any changes, you can simply maintain your current plan, and NO action is required on your part.
Example
To illustrate, let's consider a scenario where the current subscription allows the subscriber to make 3 API calls. If the subscriber decides not to subscribe to the updated plan, they will continue to be limited to 3 API calls, adhering to the details outlined in the original plan. However, if the subscriber chooses to subscribe to the updated plan, they will then have the ability to perform 5 API calls as per the new plan's specifications.
